Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Agencies across the county will come together again on April 10th to take your old or unused household chemicals and properly dispose of them so they don't pollute our environment. The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will take place Saturday, April 10th from 9 am to 3 pm at the Utah Valley University Northwest Parking Area (about 1200 West and 800 South, in Orem). Details can be found at www.UtahCountyHealth.org/hhw or by calling 801-851-7525. Please - household waste only in containers less than 5 gallons -- no commercial waste.


Burn Permits: 1/26/10

Burn permits will be issued starting March 15, 2010 to citizens of Saratoga Springs. Burn season as allowed by Utah County will be from March 15th through April 15th. Burn permits can be obtained from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department at 995 West 1200 North from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday from March 15th through April 15th. The cost of a permit is $10.00 (no credit cards accepted).


City Council Vacancy: 1/13/10

With the recent election of Mayor Mia B. Love, a vacancy exists on the City of Saratoga Springs City Council. This seat will be filled by appointment of the City Council with a term that expires in December 2011.

In order to be considered for this appointment, qualified applicants must submit a letter of interest and a resume to Lori Yates, City Recorder, by Friday, January 29, 2010. Submissions will be accepted by fax: (801) 766-9794, email: lyates@saratoga-springs.net, or in person or by mail: 1307 North Commerce Drive, Suite 200, Saratoga Springs, Utah 84045.

Qualified applicants must be US Citizens at least 18 years of age, be registered to vote, be current residents of the City of Saratoga Springs and must have resided in the City for at least twelve consecutive months immediately prior to serving on the City Council.

The City Council intends to conduct an initial review of the applicants. Based upon a review of the letters of intent and resumes, the City Council will narrow their selection and choose the top candidates for an interview during a City Council meeting in February.


Saratoga Springs Mayor to Participate in Dance Competition: 1/06/10

Two night event:
1st Annual Dancing up a Storm

Westlake High's version of Dancing With the Stars!

Friday and Saturday January 29th and 30th, 2010
7:00 PM both nights (doors open 30 minutes prior for seating)

There are 14 competing dancers from Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs. The list of those participating ranges from students, coaches, teachers, policemen, firemen and Mayor Love competing against Mayor Jackson of Eagle Mountain.

Each competitor has been assigned a dance partner from the WHS Varsith Ballroom Team and each dancing couple has been assigned two dances, one latin and one standard dance. The first night the couples will dance for your vote, the second night is the finale.

There are three ways to get tickets for this event:

1. Tickets may be pre-purchased by mail (click here for the order form)

2. You can send a ticket request by email to dancingupastormwhs@gmail.com and a member of the WHS ballroom team will get back to you.

3. Students will be able to purchase tickets from the Ballroom team members at the High School.

Pricing is as follows:

Individual tickets will be $5 for one night or $8 for both nights.

Family Pass (those in the immediate family) will be $25 for one night or $40 for both nights.
