Work in this intersection will continue through project completion in summer 2009. To maintain traffic flow, work is planned one quadrant of the intersection at a time and will include the following impacts and restrictions:

Traffic restricted to one lane in all directions, with left-turn lanes at the intersection. Right-turn pockets will be eliminated, with right turns being made from the through-lanes.
Limited pedestrian access at each corner. Alernate pedestrian routes will be posted.
Weekend and/or nighttime work as allowed by weather and City ordinance to accelerate work.
Traffic congestion and delays, especially during peak travel times.
Please see the attached files for additional information on upcoming construction.

Redwood Road Update: 10/16/08

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Thursday morning from approximately 9am - noon crews will be installing a precast structure for the wildlife undercrossing located south of Camp Williams. This work will be completed using a crane to place the structure in sections. These sections will be coming into the project site on large trucks, which will have to back down into the excavated area. For safety purposes during this operation, there will be lane restrictions and brief traffic stops in both directions during those hours. Please plan your drive accordingly. Additionally, work near the intersection of SR-68/SR-73 (the crossroads) will begin next week. Please watch for lane restrictions and expect minor delays. As work picks up in this area in coming weeks, delays will increase. Thanks for your patience. As a reminder, project information and updates are now being broadcast on Highway Advisory Radio 1300 AM. Tune in each week to hear project updates.

Segment 4 - Beginning just south of the intersection at Bangerter Highway and ending at the south end of Bluffdale proper. In coordination with the S.R. 68 project, Bluffdale City will continue work on its new waterline this week. On Monday 10/20 the right turn pocket on southbound SR-68 at 14400 S. will be closed in order to complete a waterline crossing in the roadway. Crews will be installing storm drain between 15000 S. and 14400 S. on both sides of the road. This work should be limited to the shoulder and will not impact traffic.

Segment 3 - Beginning south of Bluffdale and ending just south of Camp Williams.
Please remember that the new traffic signal at the Camp Williams main gate is now operational. Please drive safely and be prepared to stop. Thursday morning from approximately 9am – noon crews will be installing a precast structure for the wildlife undercrossing located south of Camp Williams. Lanes will be restricted in the area and flaggers will stop traffic briefly to accommodate this work.

Segment 2 – Beginning south of Camp Williams and ending just south of the intersection at SR-73 in Saratoga Springs. Work will begin in the crossroads intersection (SR-68 and SR-73) next week with minor traffic impacts. Please expect increasing delays in the area as work ramps up in this area later this month. Preparatory work for curb and gutter will be done at the end of this week and early next week.
Storm drain work will continue on the east side of the highway this week.

Segment 1 – Beginning south of the intersection at SR-73 and ending at 400 S in Saratoga Springs. Crews will continue grading and placing fill in the areas south of SR-73 this week.

General Project Information
Passing is strictly prohibited throughout the work zone. Excavation activities continue in preparation for laying roadbase. Recreational activities such as biking and jogging are strongly discouraged in the construction area due to the narrow lanes.

Get Involved, Volunteers Needed for Parks

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Do you have a scout in need of a service or eagle project?
Does your family like to be actively involved in serving the community?

As you may have noticed, the construction of the Dalmore Meadows and Saratoga Hills neighborhood park is progressing nicely. It is expected that the parks should near completion at the end of October early November.
Now it is your turn to assist in the completion of the parks!
Construction bids were advertised and awarded without the inclusion of sod or tree placement, expecting that the area residents would assist in this phase of the park construction. Currently there is 58, 000 square feet of sod for Dalmore Meadows Park and 82,000 square feet of sod for Saratoga Hills needing to be laid.
The time is now to Organize!
It is time to organize volunteers in each park area to get the sod and trees planted in a timely fashion so that all the preparation work does not go to waste.
We will plan on laying sod down in each park the evening of Friday, November 7, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. and all day Saturday, November 8, 2008 starting at 8:00 a.m. *Dates are subject to change due to weather*
For more information regarding the project or to sign up to help please contact Cecil Tuley, Community Volunteer Coordinator, at 766-6127 or email him at: cowboyt1@msn.com.

The new traffic signal at the Camp Williams main gate is scheduled to be operational this Thursday, October 2. Please drive safely and be prepared to stop in this area for the new light.

Segment 4 - Beginning just south of the intersection at Bangerter Highway and ending at the south end of Bluffdale proper. In coordination with the S.R. 68 project, Bluffdale City will continue work on its new waterline this week. Please allow extra time when traveling through this area as flaggers will be at work to assist these trucks on and off the roadway. Sidewalk installation will occur in Bluffdale this week on the west side of the road between 14400 S. and 15000 S.

Segment 3 - Beginning south of Bluffdale and ending just south of Camp Williams.
Asphalt work is expected to resume at the end of this week and continue through the beginning of next week in this segment.
