Fire Chief awarded EMT of the Year

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Saratoga Springs Fire Chief Dave Vickers was recently awarded the EMT of the Year by the North County EMS. The City congratulates Chief Vickers for his accomplishment and recognizes his great contributions to the development of the City.

The following was submitted by Tayna Kahn, Saratoga Springs EMS Coordinator.

Dave is a great chief in many ways. When he started the department, he jumped in with both feet. In the process he realized that his EMT licensure had expired. He retook both the basic and intermediate classes right along with the rest of the department.

He is on call 24/7, to the expense of any kind of personal life. His pager rarely, if ever, gets turned off and he hardly ever gets a break from it, or a vacation.

In addition to his normal everyday coverage, the department is having difficulty keeping its numbers up, which has made it necessary several times for him to put his name on the coverage list as a member of one of the teams covering the night shifts.

He loves what he does and it is evidenced by the way he motivates his fellow firefighters to be better and in the way he works and strives to move the department forward. It is a miracle department in how far it’s managed to come in four short years, due to his vision and diligence. He is an example to the entire department in how hard he works and how he treats every citizen and members of his department with respect, kindness, and patience.

Online Utility Payments

Thursday, May 12, 2005

The newest and most convenient feature of the website is the online bill pay feature. You may now make utility payments online by visiting the City’s website and choosing the online bill pay option. This feature will ask you for your personal information including your utility account number. Once you have gone through the initial bill pay setup, you will be able to pay your bill with VISA or MasterCard. You may also set up your bill pay feature to use a personal check. These online payment features will be available on Monday, April 11, 2005.

The advantage of this system is that any utility customer can view their past account history, payment dates and current account status. You will be able to view your statement online as soon as you receive this newsletter, the payment feature will not be available until April 11, 2005. The online bill pay feature is also set up so that payments made are shown immediately or in real time on your account. You may also receive bills via email if you wish and be notified online when your bill is ready to be viewed and paid. This is a very powerful tool and we hope that it will serve as a convenience to all of the City’s residents. If you have any questions about these features or would like to make payments over the phone using a credit card or check, please contact the City receptionists or Alyson Alger at 766-9793. These qualified staff members can assist you in accessing these services.
