Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why does Saratoga Springs Development pay more for street lights and yet not have as many as other neighborhoods?
A. The City has recently taken over the maintenance responsibilities from the Home Owners Association by creating a Special Improvement District (SID). The fees reflect not only the power and maintenance costs but the costs of purchasing and installing new street lights. The new street lights are needed to bring this neighborhood up to City standards.
Q. When will I get street lights on my block in the Saratoga Springs Development neighborhood? What are the priorities?
A. Intersections will have street lights installed first. City standards call for street lights to be installed every 300 feet on residential streets. Installations will be completed as money becomes available in the S.I.D. Fund.
Q. The street light is shining in my bedroom window at night. Can the City dim the lights?
A. Reflectors can be installed on lights to minimize the effects. Each complaint will be handled on a case by case basis. Please remember that the City cannot install any shield that compromises the safety or usefulness of your street light.
Q. For street light outages or other problems who should I call?
A. You should contact the Public Works Department at 766-6509 or by
email. Be sure to leave an approximate address of the problem light and your name and phone number so we can follow up.
