FALLEN FIREFIGHTER
A Father, Hero, Friend, Leader and Mentor……
Saratoga Fire Chief, Mike Penovich died on July 05, 2007. He was killed in a tragic auto accident while on duty serving his community. Always looking to better his department, fix broken equipment and/or finish a project, Mike spent many countless hours away from his family. Dedication and commitment were just some of his qualities that only scratched the tough surface of the big teddy bear.
With the many hours and dedication to the fire service Mike would make his available free time doing family activities which he loved. The number one motivator was his family. Mike was a husband to Shelly and a father to Colton and Chyann.
The fire service will never fill the void that was left by Mike, but will always see his influence through out the fire service and community. A person whom came through the ranks as a firefighter and Chief with Cedar Fort to becoming Chief of Saratoga Springs gives us all just a small outline of Mike’s life.
The family can’t put into words and or give thanks to everyone that showed their love and respect during this tragic time. Thanks to all fire and law enforcement agencies that participated in Mike’s services from throughout the State.
