Building

The Building Department is responsible for doing plan reviews, issuing building permits, and completing all required building inspections on all commercial buildings, residential projects, additions, remodels and basement finishes. In doing so we hope to ensure a safe and secure living and working environment for the citizens and guests of our city.

Notice - Code Change Effective July 1, 2010
H.B. 45, State Construction Code Adoption, was signed into law by Governor Gary Herbert on March 26, 2010; this goes into effect on July 1, 2010.  Plans not approved and fees paid for by this date will be required to be designed & reviewed under the new codes. 2009 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC), to include Appendix J, issued by the International Code Council

  • 2008 Edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC), issued by the National Fire Protection Association
  • 2009 Edition of the International Plumbing Code (IPC), issued by the International Code Council
  •  2009 Edition of the International Mechanical Code (IMC), issued by the International Code Council
  • 2009 Edition of the International Residential Code (IRC), issued by the International Code Council
  • 2009 Edition of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), issued by the International Code Council
  • 2009 Edition of the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), issued by the International Code Council

We will make every effort to ensure inspections are done the following working day after they are scheduled. To do this we require that you contact the building department at (801)766-6507 before 5:00 pm the working day before the inspection is to be done.
